The notes contained within the sets portray unique aspects of New Zealand, from Sir Edmund Hillary on the $5 note to Māori leader Sir Apirana Ngata on the $50 note. Alongside each banknote is a detailed commentary on the note’s subject – giving a unique insight into New Zealand’s people, history, culture and wildlife.
The serial numbers on the banknotes reflect the year in which the notes were printed. They are limited to only 1,000 sets, so serious currency collectors will need to get in quickly! These highly collectable sets are being issued by New Zealand Post on behalf of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, and are available from December 2011.
