Credit/Debit Card Payment Terminology Explained

The information on this page will clarify how we manage and process your credit/debit card transactions.

One-off Instant Payment

A one-off instant payment (also known as a 'purchase' transaction) is a one step process resulting in the immediate transfer of funds from your credit/debit card into your Stamps and Collectables Customer Account.

Authorisation and Completion Transactions

Authorisations
This is the first part of the two stage process to debit your credit/debit card.

An authorisation verifies that your credit/debit card is valid and has sufficient funds to complete this transaction. If approved, the authorised amount is:

  • held by your bank for us until we are ready to ship your order, OR
  • if the transaction is not completed, the authorisation expires after 7 days and it is no longer held by your bank for us.

Completions

A ‘completion’ transaction is the second part of the two stage process to debit your credit/debit card.

A 'completion' transaction is triggered only when we are ready to ship your order to you. It is only at this point that your credit/debit card is debited.

Which transaction type will be used?

If you choose to top up your Stamps and Collectables Customer Account online or by phoning or emailing our customer services team, a “one-off instant payment“ (or “purchase transaction”) will be processed and your customer account will be credited immediately.

If your credit/debit card payment is associated with an order we will authorise your credit/debit card when you submit your order through our checkout and complete the payment only once we are ready to ship your order to you. For products that have been pre-ordered (release date is a future date) we will authorise your payment when you submit your order and complete the transaction up to a week prior to the date of issue.

If you choose to store your credit/debit card with us, we will process a $1 authorisation transaction to verify your card details are correct. This transaction will never be completed so you will never be charged.

Refunds

A 'refund' transaction is a one step process resulting in the immediate transfer of funds from our bank account to your credit/debit card. To request a refund you will need to contact our customer service team directly. To view our contact details click here
