2004 Pukaki Coin
The Pukaki coin is a superb tribute to the power and majesty of Pukaki – and with only 300 coins produced this is a rare and very precious addition to any coin collection.
On 2 October 1997, one of New Zealand’s most precious tāonga (treasures) returned to its rightful home, exactly 120 years after it had left.
‘Pukaki’ is a carving of the famous warrior leader of the Māori Ngati Whakaue iwi (tribe). Crafted from a single piece of totara timber, this magnificent artefact is recognised as a tāonga of the highest order.
The 'Pukaki' is the centrepiece of this limited edition, 22 carat gold proof coin which is beautifully presented in a handcrafted kauri wakahuia (treasure box).
